Fruits and Vegetables (F&V) is not a new sector in Ethiopia as the production of these crops has been undertaken for decades. The sector comprises large state farms supplying fruits and vegetables to the local market and for exports.

Farm Location
Bora (Woreda)
Bora is one of the Woredas in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. It was part of the former Woreda of Dugda Bora. Alem Tena is the administrative centre of Bora Woreda. Located in the Misraq Shewa Zone of the Oromia Region, it has a latitude and longitude of 8.30°N 38.95°E with an elevation of 1,611 meters. Bora Woreda is located in the Great Rift Valley. The administrative centre of Bora is Bote (Alem Tena) town.
Demographics
The 2007 national census reported a total population for this Woreda of 58,748, of whom 30,487 were men and 28,261 were women; 11,403 or 19.41% of its population were urban dwellers. The majority of the inhabitants said they practised Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, with 86% of the population reporting they observed this belief, while 6.01% of the population practiced traditional beliefs, 4.47% of the population were Muslim, and 3.11% of the population were Protestant.
Overview
Near Alem Tena is Lake Ellen, 7.5 KM’s to the North western direction by the western shores of which the farmland is located. Based on figures from the Central Statistical Agency of Ethiopia published in 2005, Alem Tena has an estimated total population of 13,529 consisting of 6,605 men and 6,924 women.
